Burning down the house

The three of us drove to Horseshoe Bend on Saturday morning to watch Mom and Dad burn down the house on their property. It was quite a show. Photo gallery link to all the pictures here. Ava just couldn’t wrap her head around why someone would purposely burn down a house (to build a new one in the same spot in this case).

Here’s a few highlights. The fire department supervised the burning and was very helpful.

A few gallons is all it takes…

And let the games begin!

Started small in a corner of one room.

But after about 5 minutes it was a roaring fire.

We had to leave before everything burned down to the ground, but it didn’t take long to get this far.

It was a perfect day for burning, very little wind kept things in control.

    Scott, Jenn and Ava,
Thanks so much for coming to the house burning, and for taking all the great pictures! Maybe Ava will understand things more when the new house is there….tell her not to hold her breath, though!
Thanks again for all your help!
    Love, Mom
