IF YOU GIVE A…

IMG_5073.JPG

I’m sure many of you are familiar with the children’s book author Laura Joffe Numeroff. She wrote the books pictured above and many others in this series. Anyway, I know nothing about this woman, but I would bet money that she must’ve had a toddler or a preschooler at some point in her life. I am certain that this is where the inspiration for these books came from! If you haven’t read them they begin with a child offering a tasty treat to an animal. The animal then comes in the house. Eating the treat gives the animal an idea, which sparks another idea, which breeds into another idea, which snowballs into another idea…. until the entire house looks like a tornado ripped through it and the child is exhausted. These stories are about Ava. She is the animal, I am the child. And this is my every day.

My every.

single.

day.

Here’s just one example from this morning:

And do you think I’ll get to go clean the tub? No. Because she’ll ask me to read her a story!

I am trying to get a handle on this house cleaning thing. Yesterday when Nancy took the girls, did I catch up on cleaning?

No way! Instead, I headed to the library and checked out this book:

It’s teaching me to love the messes because of all the fun that just took place. And that’s what I’ll keep telling myself when I finally get the chance to clean the tub.

Funny Face

I love babies! They are so much fun and very fascinating. Both of my little girls had what we call the “funny face”. I was finally able to catch Annalise’s funny face on video! Warning: turn your volume down because our camera makes a squelching noise now. We think this is because of our new memory card. It’s awesome because it automatically uploads all of our pictures to our flickr account but not so awesome because of the interference.

I love that Annalise knows she’s being silly and laughs too!

And here’s a picture of Ava’s funny face:

Maybe every baby makes this funny face?

I don’t even know why I am blogging right now. I don’t have any news, I don’t have any fab pictures to post, quite frankly, I really don’t have anything to say. But it’s been a while so here I am. Actually the majority of our recent posts have been made by Scott (he’s so awesome!). I know I am not any busier than my other blogging friends, in fact, they are busier than I am and still manage to blog. I suppose I’m just not interesting or creative enough.

I have been in a selfish mood lately. Maybe if I just unload my desires I’ll be released of them.

Here we go:

*If I am tired, I just want to lay down and go to sleep.

*I want to go somewhere without the hassle of coats, socks, shoes, and buckles.

*I want to shop at the grocery store without having to play i-spy while concentrating on coupons, prices, and ingredients.

*If I’m feeling creative, I want to pull out the knitting needles or the sewing machine without guilt.

That’s all. I feel bad for having these selfish thoughts. I know there are tons of gals who would do anything to be in my shoes. I am so lucky to have two beautiful girls. I am so lucky I get to stay home with them. I don’t even have the right to complain.

See how lucky I am?
