And on Christmas Eve the three of us (and Farley) drove up into the mountains to go sledding and play in the snow.

Burning down the house

The three of us drove to Horseshoe Bend on Saturday morning to watch Mom and Dad burn down the house on their property. It was quite a show. Photo gallery link to all the pictures here. Ava just couldn’t wrap her head around why someone would purposely burn down a house (to build a new one in the same spot in this case).

Here’s a few highlights. The fire department supervised the burning and was very helpful.

But after about 5 minutes it was a roaring fire.

We had to leave before everything burned down to the ground, but it didn’t take long to get this far.

It was a perfect day for burning, very little wind kept things in control.

Visiting Sisters

Jenn and I visited Sisters last weekend. Left early Saturday morning with a fuel stop at Burns. Spent the day visiting all the little shops in Sisters, then departed Sisters Sunday morning at sunrise. Ava stayed with Nana and Grandpa. Jenn and I decided that Sisters was a perfect “1 day town”. One day is just about right to see everything in town.

There were a couple of knitting / quilting shops that we visited.

After a hotel-night’s-sleep, we woke up before sunrise, stopped at the local bakery to grab a muffin, and took off as the sun was rising to head back home.
